    Tip 7: Email Etiquette

Don't pester people who are on your email list.

Using an autoresponder to send emails is so easy that many people abuse and overdo it.

If you an email a prospect every day, that's pestering, and
the same goes for marketing to an email list.

Respect people's time and privacy. Don't use the technology
to excess just because it's there.

Don't over use caps or non-sensical symbolson your Subject Lines. Typing all capital letters on your subject lines is like
    shouting in someone's face!

Don't get cutesy by using a bunch of erroneous characters and symbols, and NEVER leave your subject lines blank. They look scarey and nine times out of ten they will be deleted!

Don't be devious or misleading to people on your email list. Federal laws prohibits marketing email messages that are decepttive or misleading. The subject line should not make
the recipients think they're getting something they are not.

Obviously, determining what's misleading is a judgement call,
so use your best judgment when marketing to an email list.

If you dislike getting direct mail that looks suspicious, like a
bill, an IRS Notice, a phoney "You've Just Won An Award,"
etc. .. then avoid using similar deceptive tactics in your own
    email marketing campaigns.

Don't overburden your recipient on your email lists. Emails
that go on and on are very tiring to read on a computer and
is taxing on one's attention span. Huge files that take a long
time to download are also an annoyance to many recipients, especially those with older and slower PC's and dial-up connections.

When sending rich-media and graphic email messages to an
email list, keep your file size to a maximum of 40 to 50K... preferably 40K or less, when sending out to an email list.

Use your discretion when mailing to multiple email addresses. People who are protective of their email address to may not appreciate seeing it visiblly dispayed when you send out a message to many people at the same time.

This is the number one reason why people use, or hire, a professional email marketing company to market send to
    their email list.

Most email systems have separate procedures for "carbon copies" where the list of recipients appears along with the message, and "blind carbon copies" where the email list is nowhere to be seen. Take care to send "blind" kind of
message to an email list if your are set to doing it yourself, especially where those on the email list deserve to remain anonymous to each other, as with people answering classified ads.

To sum it up, when sending email advertising to an email list:
Only send to rented email lists, or to your own optin customer lists.

Never buy or rent an email list, because 99% of the time these email lists have been used over and over again. Also, these
lists cannot be quality-controlled... so people on sold or rented email list could be receiving your email messages, along with
100's of other message that may include scams, pornography
    or other objectionable content.

Every email message you send to an email list should give the recipient an easy way to opt out of receiving future emails
from you and want to be deleted from your email list. You
MUST honor all such Unsubscribe requests to an email list.
    It's the Law.

Do not try to deceive or fool prospects into thinking your email marketing message is not a promotional message or that is
    not from a marketer.

People not want to do business with deceptive businesses.
Never be misleading or unethical in any of your marketing to
an email lists. This is also against the law.
